Joseph Witt commented on NIFI-1074:
-----------------------------------
Ultimately what this ticket is about from my perspective is to always be
helping make it easier for developers to build extensions in NiFi. This
concept of 'nifi-externals' is the right location for such a thing I think. It
is, however, very true that keeping such a thing maintained is non-trivial.
It is also probably the case that for something like this we're desiring a
lower level of governance and it isn't really meant to be a released thing so
much as it is to help one build for/on NiFi. For something like this I can see
how Github is an ideal place. We could presumably link to that from our Apache
NiFi site. That too, however, has some drawbacks. Where do we draw the line
on what we link to vs what we dont?
Oleg's ticket and submission does address a very specific need that has been
stated recently and in the past. That is a plus. I'm more in favor of
offering something for this in the 'nifi-external' space and we can learn more
about whether we have to do more, whether it lives here, and what we can do
about the maintenance version.
Thanks
Joe
