Aldrin Piri commented on MINIFI-33:
-----------------------------------
Will have to consider where ownership of this resides and who is responsible
for invoking. Exposing this to higher level APIs seems like potentially too
much exposure, but could potentially see mechanisms to provide acknowledgement
to the repository implementation to help it make more informed decisions. A
successive implementation that maps more directly to the more transient nature
of provenance in MiNiFi instances could certainly provide/support the earlier
cleanup more efficiently.
Regardless, nice point to work toward in terms of being good stewards over
limited resources.
> Add option to delete Provenance Data after successful reporting

> Priority: Minor

> After a MiNiFi instance reports it's provenance data back to a Core NiFi
> instance it more than likely no longer needs to keep the data locally. There
> should be the configuration option (potentially in the
> ProvenanceReportingTask) to delete the data after successfully reporting it.
> This would take a major rewrite since the Provenance Repo only supports
> purging of provenance events for age off and space limits.
