Rekha Joshi commented on NIFI-1625:
-----------------------------------
The messaging on latest release seems clear enough, maybe the ambiguity is gone
already? If so, please close. "Specifies the maximum number of characters a
given capture group value can have. Any characters beyond the max will be
truncated."
> ExtractText - Description of Capture Group is not clear
> -------------------------------------------------------
>
> Key: NIFI-1625
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NIFI-1625
> Project: Apache NiFi
> Issue Type: Bug
> Affects Versions: 0.4.1
> Reporter: Randy Bovay
> Priority: Trivial
>
> ExtractText ONLY captures the first 1024 (default) characters.
> The help text says this applies to the capture group values. It's not clear
> that this is on the 'input', but leads one to believe it's on the actual new
> properties that are being captured.
>
> Better wording should be
> "Specifies the Maximum length of the input record that will be evaluated for
> the capture. The input record will only be evaluated Up TO this length, and
> the rest will be ignored"
