Reproduced on current master (no hardware needed): - Python 3.12.14: DeprecationWarning at tools/flash_writer.py:27, tool still works - Python 3.13.15 / 3.14.4: ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'telnetlib' at import time Since the import is top-level, serial-only users (-s) are broken on 3.13+ too, before argument parsing even runs. I read the feedback on #18414 (keep telnet working, stay synchronous, before/after logs). My plan is to replace telnetlib with a small synchronous socket-based helper inside flash_writer.py that keeps telnetlib's on-the-wire behavior (IAC escaping on write, IAC/option-negotiation handling on read), so XMODEM over telnet (e.g. via ser2net) is unchanged and there are no new dependencies. For testing without a Spresense, I'll use a small emulator of the bootloader "updater" prompt that receives XMODEM over both a pty (serial path) and TCP/telnet (telnet path), and verify that the received files are byte-identical on 3.12 (old code) and 3.13/3.14 (new code). @jerpelea are you working on this already? If not, may I take it? @cederom would you be able to run the final PR on real hardware over serial? -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
