Have you ever used the PROTECTED build in the past? You know that when the build completes, there will be two ELF files, nuttx and nuttx-user. Both have to be loaded into FLASH. There should be more info in the README file associated with each configuration. Indeed this is the first I tried it but I saw the README you mentioned. I flashed both binaries at apropriate FLASH addresses and the test runs for quite some time until it crashes.
