Chris A. Mattmann commented on OODT-529:
----------------------------------------

Hey Luca, I'd be in favor of a property e.g.,

{noformat}
org.apache.oodt.cas.filemgr.catalog.lucene.allowDynFields
{noformat}

By default, to preserve back compat, this would be set to false. But, if set to
true, then the validation layer check for met fields would be removed, and
would be replaced with Metadata.keys

Make sense?

> There is often a need for ingesting and using metadata fields that are
> dynamically named, rather than being exactly defined in an XML schema used by
> the CAS Validation Layer.
> We should either expand the current LuceneCatalog implementation to allow
> arbitrary fields, or provide an alternative implementation that does so.
