# Yes. It is impossible to test without AD ecosystem. Windows can use AD DC
only as KDC. But Samba AD DC can be used instead of heavy Windows Server. If
there is no windows at all, MIT KDC can be used.
# Kerberos provides identification and authentication of users. So, you can
get user princilpal(login@realm) and, of course, answer for question "Is this
client valid". All details about client can be obtained from LDAP. OpenLDAP,
Active Directory or something else. Igniterealtime Openfire uses this way. See
