According to your screen-shot (the one with dev tools)
You should have opened modal dialog
since it is "invitation" session I suppose this might be nickname dialog
The whole situation looks like this:

And it is not reproducible for me :(
Can you check the steps described in mail thred?
Can you share your ebvironment? Client OS/browser (VM or not)
