+## DESCRIPTION
+
+Apache OpenOffice is an open-source office-document productivity suite. There
are six productivity applications based
+around the OpenDocument Format (ODF) that are Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw,
Math, Base. With limited support for other
+file formats, OpenOffice ships for Windows, macOS, Linux 64-bit, Linux 32-bit
and in 41 languages.
+
+## STATUS
+
+The activity within the project dropped in this quarter. Topics took longer to
process. However to our knowledge no commiter left permamently,
+we expect that activity will raise again when our volunteers have time again
for OpenOffice. We see the current situation as a natural development.
+
+
+## ISSUES FOR BOARD AWARENESS
+
+There are no current topics to be concerned with.

+
+## RELEASES
+
+We are preparing 2 releases.
+4.2.0 is the next minor release, planned to be released into a beta phase
within this year. Currently we have some blockers that have to be solved before
we can take next steps.
+4.1.6 is a small maintenance release, planned in July.

+2017-12-30 4.1.5
+2017-10-19 4.1.4
+2016-10-12 4.1.3

+Last PMC member withdrawal was on 2017-Feb-04 Dennis E. Hamilton (orcmid)
+
+## COMITTERS
+
+There are 141 committers as of 2018-Apr-11. The recognition and invitation of
new committers is also on a stable level.

+Last committer withdrawal was on 2017-Feb-04 Dennis E. Hamilton (orcmid)

+
+## ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
+
+No Changes to report. We did not do any activity to recruit new commiters.
+
+## WEBSITES & INFRASTRUCTURE
+
+We are processing the migration towards new VMs and taking over the
maintenance from infra for these systems.
+We have targeted to finish the migration of the Wikimedia platform by end of
June, in order to proceed with testing.
+Forums have been planned to processed in a longer term.
+However the progress in the migration relative to our expectations of the
forum is better, and the Wikimedia is a bit behind.
+In total we are satisfied with the progress in total, since for both topics we
see no show stoppers.
+
+Forum is currently in public testing, and recives incremental bugfixes.
+MediaWiki is expected to go into public testing on the weekend from 13 to 15
July.
+
+We want to thank Infra for their support in this toppic. We are very happy
with their supported provided.
+
+## MARKETING
+The german community is producing new flyers for the Booth team in german and
english. We are looking for transaltors into other languages.
+(French has been discussed.)
+
+<private>
+
+## SECURITY
+Fixes for security reports waiting for a release. We have not been able to
bring them on the way, due to volunteer availability and topics we work on.
+We have sheduled the release for July, which will be called 4.1.6.
+
+We are also clearifying if some old reports are valid, due the fact that even
the Reports forgot the status about those.
+
+## DOWNLOAD INFRASTRUCTURE
+We had a query from ODSN.net if they can become a partner besides or instead
of sourceforge. After a brief discussion, we have turned the offer down.
+The reasons were:
+# We did not like the style the proposal has been brought to us. It reminded
us to much on other controverse conflicts we have to face.
+# OSDN.net is a split from SourceForge. We do not want to take part in the
conflict.
+
+We have reported our concerns in the past about the issues SourceForge
currently has. We discussed other options we have.
+Especially we had a Discussion a fruitfull discussion with Infra, to take the
Download infrastructure for the Basics within Apache.
+A Yearly cost of around 12 500$ has been estimated to move the download offer
for OpenOffice in house. We have excluded the extensions.
+We are currently waiting for a market analysis on other Options on the market,
before picking the discussion up again.
+The only concern raised (by me) is that we need to strtengthen communications
with infra to avoid inner conflicts. I do not see the volunteers at this point
for this.
+But I think these are not unsolvable issue, if the project really wants to
make the move.
+
+##BRANDING
+OpenOffice.de is currently not progressing. Our research found no evidence of
malware. (What are our next steps here??)

+
+## STATUS
+
+The activity within the project has been low during summer month. People
started to be more active very late in this quarter.
+Our main focus is currently divided, between OpenOffice development topics and
Infrastructure topics. Branching and volunteer
+recruiting receive only little attention.
+
+
+## ISSUES FOR BOARD AWARENESS
+
+There are no current topics to be concerned with.

+
+We are still preparing 2 releases.
+4.2.0 is the next minor release, planned to be released into a beta phase
within this year. Currently we have some blockers that have to be solved before
we can take next steps.
+4.1.6 is a small maintenance release, rescheduled for November. Stuck until
recently when the release manager found time. We have now picked up speed.
+Plan is until end of month to have a release candidate.

+
+No Changes to report. We have some new volunteers that make some first steps.
+
+## WEBSITES & INFRASTRUCTURE
+
+We are processing the migration towards new VMs and taking over the
maintenance from infra for these systems.
+
+However due to the summer month, we did not finish the migration, yet. We
missed our own plan.
+We have now a deadline of 30th of November from Infra. At this date the old
VMs will be switched off. We are confidant
+and eager to finalize the migration until this deadline.
+
+We have initiated a new VM payed from the Project Funds, for a reviving the
OpenGrok Service. So far we currently wait for the VM to be accessable.
+
+We still use the Apache CMS for our download page. It seems it is currently
unmaintained and unsupported.
+
+## MARKETING
+The german community is producing new flyers for the Booth team in german and
english. We are looking for transaltors into other languages.
+
+We do apply for an own booth on FOSDEM next year, in order to try to promote
the Project.
