URL: https://github.com/apache/pinot/pull/19777
The two `release-1.5.0` jobs in "Pinot Compatibility Checks" (sample suite
and multi-stage suite) fail before any test runs. The old-version build stops
with this error:
```
[ERROR] Internal error in Develocity Maven extension:
DevelocityLifecycleManager afterProjectsRead
1) [Guice/NullInjectedIntoNonNullable]: null returned by binding at
LocatorWiring
but the 2nd parameter pluginDescriptorCache of
com.gradle.maven.internal.a.<init>(SourceFile:32) is not @Nullable
```
### Cause
- GitHub runner image `ubuntu-24.04` 20261004.327.1 updated the system Maven
from 3.9.16 to 3.10.0 ([release
notes](https://github.com/actions/runner-images/releases/tag/ubuntu24%2F20261004.327)).
Jobs on image 20260927.320.1 still pass.
- `checkoutAndBuild.sh` builds the old version with the system `mvn`.
- `release-1.5.0` pins the Develocity Maven extension 2.3.4. Maven 3.10.0
needs version 2.6.0 or later ([compatibility
table](https://docs.develocity.ai/compatibility)). Master moved to 2.6.0 in
#19690, so the build of the current tree passes.
### Change
`checkoutAndBuild.sh` now builds each tree that it checks out with the
`./mvnw` of that tree. These trees are the old version, and the new version
when `-n` is set. Each tree then builds with the Maven version that it pins
(3.9.9 for `release-1.5.0`). A tree without a wrapper uses the system `mvn`.
The build of the current tree does not change.
### Testing
Local runs with JDK 25, Maven 3.10.0 as the system `mvn`, and the Maven
options of the CI job:
- Old-version build step for `release-1.5.0` without this change: fails with
the same Develocity error.
- The same step with this change: passes with Maven 3.9.9 from the wrapper.
- A stub test of the Maven command: a checked-out tree with a wrapper uses
`./mvnw` for all calls. A checked-out tree without a wrapper uses `mvn`. The
current tree uses `mvn`.
