The source release cannot currently build outside Git: buildnumber:create fails to obtain a revision, and the source assembly omits .mvn even though it includes mvnw. Use the documented UNKNOWN revision fallback when SCM metadata is unavailable, and include the existing Maven wrapper configuration in the source archive. Normal checkout builds still record their real Git revision. Validation: reproduced the outside-Git failure and verified the one-line fallback in an isolated preflight; root and distribution formatting, license and Checkstyle checks pass. Git validation still records the exact current commit. A fresh assembled archive is being validated outside Git before release staging.
