KKcorps opened a new pull request, #19936:
URL: https://github.com/apache/pinot/pull/19936

   A multi-value column with a range index and `rangeIndexVersion: 2` gets
rebuilt on every reload, forever.
`RangeIndexType` only builds the v2 BitSliced index for single-value
columns, so MV columns always get a v1 index.
`RangeIndexHandler` compared that on-disk v1 against the configured v2, so
`needUpdateIndices` never went false.
We hit this on a 572-segment table where servers kept logging "Need to
rebuild range index ... due to version change" after every reload.
The handler now compares against the version the creator actually builds,
which is v1 for MV columns.
Added `RangeIndexHandlerMultiValueTest`, which builds a real segment,
reloads once, and checks the next `needUpdateIndices` is false.
It fails without the fix. The existing `RangeIndexHandler*` tests still pass.
