As a function, `ControllerPeriodicTask.runTask() `doesn't do much. If it
was merged with the `ControllerPeriodicTask.processTables` function then there
would be no need to create the `tablesToProcess` array because `processTable`
could directly be called on the tables that pass the filter criteria.
