@michaeljmarshall when I say it silently fails I mean that the api call to `BlogStore.removeBlobs` fails without throwing an exception. That means that the managed ledger thinks that the S3 Blob is removed when in fact it is orphaned. The `ManagedLedgerImpl` retry mechanism is never invoked. I proved this by putting `log.info` calls around the `removeBlogs` call and running a full test. I watched the logs and after Pulsar thought the S3 blobs were gone I observed that all the Blobs were still in the S3 Bucket. Once I applied the changes in the PR I made the same test and when I saw the `log.info` I was able to confirm in the S3 Bucket that the Blobs were removed. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
