### Motivation
Sometimes errors occur in AuthN custom code e.g. #7893 and there are not
enough clues in the logs to help isolate the problem
### Modifications
Added stack trace to several log lines.
Added log lines with a stack trace where an exception was rethrown (also for
consistency with the class)

This change is a trivial rework / code cleanup without any test coverage.
