Thanks for putting effort into fixing this @michaeljmarshall . Fixing this test seems pretty challenging. If there are obstacles that are hard to overcome, perhaps there's a way to simplify the test. One thing that I've noticed before with testing DLQ behavior is that disabling batching in the producer is necessary to get consistent behavior.
