BTW, I was able to find a workaround for my use-case. I can use the Admin client to check the internalStats for the topic I'm interested in. This contains information on the ledgers that contain the data for the topic, including the ledgerIds and the top entryId for each ledger. With that information, I can create a MessageId to initialize the Reader's position. Of course this doesn't work in all cases, but it's enough for this use-case where I'm not using batching or any exotic configurations. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
