ivankelly opened a new pull request #1514: Compaction allows keyless messages to pass through URL: https://github.com/apache/incubator-pulsar/pull/1514 If a message has no key it's impossible to know if a later message supercedes it, so in this case, it should be simply passed through compaction (i.e. it should appear when reading from a compacted topic).
