### Describe the bug An HTTP error response with an empty body is common for a provider gateway or reverse proxy. `OpenAiCompatibleLlmClient.upstreamException` calls `readTree(body).path(...)`, but Jackson returns null for an empty/whitespace body and for the JSON literal `null`. This throws `NullPointerException` instead of returning the provider HTTP status and `llm.provider.upstream_error`. The affected entrypoints are completion, model listing, and streaming, which all share this error decoder. ### Reproduction Serve HTTP 503 with an empty body at `/v1/chat/completions` or `/v1/models`, then invoke the matching client method. A JSON `null` body or whitespace-only body has the same result. ### Expected behavior Preserve the upstream status and the existing status-only error message when no structured error message is present. A normal JSON error message should still be included. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
