Glen Mazza closed ROL-1023.
---------------------------
Resolution: Not A Problem
I don't think this is a problem, as having up-to-the-minute hit counts are not
that vital (certainly not worthy of introducing client-side javascript and its
associated implementation and security headaches over).
> Dynamically update hit counts
> -----------------------------
>
> Key: ROL-1023
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ROL-1023
> Project: Roller
> Issue Type: Bug
> Affects Versions: 2.1
> Reporter: linda skrocki
> Assignee: Roller Unassigned
> Priority: Trivial
>
> Per Allen: We cache full pages which includes the referrer hit counts. This
> means
> that the hit count on a page will show the same number until that page
> is invalidated from the cache. The end result is that hit counts are
> not guaranteed to be current.
> We will probably have to do something like we do for the comment
> authenticator now and use client side javascript to pull the data
> dynamically.
> Also need to separate hit counts from referrer data.
