First, I'd recommend you to re-post this to Roller users mailing list where is
more suitable for asking for help because there are more people watching who
are users and developers, than here.

As for the theme migration, I think checking current standard themes that
shipped with Roller distribution is good for you. theme files are not complex
as much so I think you can create new theme files for your old custom themes
after checking current standard ones. also you can check them online:

As for 404 error, I guess possible causes are:
* Roller failed to find the weblog
* Roller failed to find the entry
But I don't really understand about your situation. could you give more
information about it?
For example, can you view the frontpage of weblog? did you only failed to view
permalink of each entry? or are there any indication of error or stacktraces in
your container log or Roller log which is placed on the path specified in
roller-custom.properties?
