[~boryas] I suspect this will be resolved from the PR in
[SAMZA-1150|https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SAMZA-1251] . Apart from
removing timer dependency, it also simplifies the LeaderElectionListener and
PredecessorChangeHandler .
