In fact, this replay is required by the seatunnel example for local debug,
which is then replicated concurrently in production. There don't seem to be any
test cases, and I don't seem to have thought of what kind of test cases to
write.
My Fix idea is to do a global new when the class is constructed to avoid
null pointer exceptions.
