Thanks for the detailed reproduction. I checked the current JSON collect path, and this does look like a real bug rather than a usage problem. The fragile part is that `JsonDeserializationSchema.collect(...)` unconditionally calls `setCollectorTablePath(...)` after `convertJsonNode(...)`. But `convertJsonNode(...)` can still return `null` for a selected element, and `setCollectorTablePath(...)` then dereferences that null row. With `content_field` extracting nested elements, that path is reachable, which matches the `NullPointerException` you reported. So the issue is worth keeping open as a real bug in the JSON collect path when `content_field` is used.
