Thanks for writing this up in a very concrete way and for already scoping the first contribution honestly. This reads like a useful connector enhancement rather than a bug report, and the MVP boundary you proposed is reasonable: Source-only first, public Maven dependency only, no proprietary jars in the Apache repo, and no over-claim on exactly-once semantics in the first PR.
