Status update after checking the fix path: - The real validation (`--dry-run static`, #10763) is already on `dev`, so the next release (2.3.14) will carry a working engine-level check without further code changes — there is nothing left to implement for the forward path. - A backport to the 2.3.x line would require a patch release (with the full vote process) for a non-crash defect, which is a release-manager decision rather than something a code PR can drive. If the RMs consider it, the cherry-pick of #10763 should be clean. Given that, the remaining actionable item is documentation: a warning on the versioned docs for ≤2.3.13 that `--check` performs no actual validation in those releases (exit 0 for any config), so users and tooling don't rely on it as a pre-flight gate. That change belongs to the website repository's versioned docs — I'm happy to submit it if the maintainers agree it's worth adding. Suggest either closing this once 2.3.14 ships with #10763, or labeling it fixed-in-next-release in the meantime. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
