Thanks everyone for the discussion. @goutamadwant has implemented this via Hive's standard metastore client factory path in PR #11895 — `metastore_uri` becomes optional when `hive.metastore.client.factory.class` is configured (via `hive-site.xml` or `hive.hadoop.conf`), existing Thrift metastore behavior is unchanged, and docs and test coverage are included. @zhangzhao2010 once the PR lands, it would be great if you could verify it against your EMR + Glue Data Catalog setup.
