Thanks @SEZ9, you're right. `DECIMAL(30, 0)` is never remapped; I meant a value with 30 integer digits stored in a `DECIMAL(65, 0)` column, which doesn't fit the 20 integer digits of `DECIMAL(38, 18)`. I've corrected the description. Also agreed that B doesn't help `DECIMAL(50, 30)`, which is one more reason I lean towards A.
