   Finished the source-side review repairs in `f28b088a868b` and merged the
current `dev` without rewriting the author history.

   The regression now verifies that the final visible records are delivered
before the split is finished, while records at/after the stopping offset are
excluded. Finished partitions also release their retained stopping offsets. The
existing Kafka batch integration case now uses committed records plus a flushed
aborted transaction tail with `read_committed`, and compares exact visible row
counts/data instead of treating Kafka offsets as row counts. The mock-consumer
fixture closes the internally created consumer.

   The original four-file scope is preserved, formatting/whitespace checks
passed, and GitHub reports no merge conflict. The PR is ready for review;
`Build` is queued on this head. These added regression cases have not yet
completed GitHub CI, so this is not a runtime-pass or merge claim.
