I think you are complecting what the scanner does with full life-cycle 
maintenance. That's way beyond its scope ... it is meant to assist with 
initialization only.

In your case, you should add your own events.zone.willUpdate event handler to 
identify elements that need special handing before being replaced, and do the 
necessary work.
