Jonathan Gallimore commented on TOMEE-4215:
-------------------------------------------

Hi,

By way of disclaimer, I work for Tomitribe, and I am also an Apache TomEE
committer. Hopefully I can help unpick this for you.

The first URL you have posted is an Apache Software Foundation page, and the
second is a link from the Tomitribe website. The Apache Software Foundation
provides Apache TomEE, including its source code, for free. Support is also
provided via mailing lists. Its important to note that any support provided is
done so by volunteers and there is no service level agreement for it. The
volunteers who contribute to Apache TomEE have agreed that they will stop
maintaining TomEE 8.x at the end of 2023, per the first link you posted.

Additionally, support for TomEE is available from commercial vendors, of which
Tomitribe is one, and those vendors are listed on this page:
[https://tomee.apache.org/community/commercial.html] (other vendors are welcome
to ask to be listed here). These vendors are separate and independent of the
ASF, and they should not solicit business through ASF channels. Commercial
support vendors may offer their own SLAs and support dates, and they may differ
to the EOL dates listed on tomee.apache.org. If you are specifically interested
commercial support from one of the vendors, you're welcome to reach out to them
directly via the links on the commercial support page.

I hope that helps.

Jon

> Hello,
> We are reviewing TomEE documentation about when is the End of Life date of
> Apache TomEE 8.0.X version.
> We have found two contradictory dates:
>  * 31 December 2023 in URL: "https://tomee.apache.org/tomee-8.0-eol.html";
>  * 12 December 2027 in URL:
> "https://www.tomitribe.com/legal/lifecycle-policy/";
> Which one is the correct one?
> We are interesting in the end of life date when the maintenance support
> finish (security and mayor bugs).
> Thank you very much for your advice.
> Best regards,
