Running `sphinx-build -b linkcheck . _build/linkcheck` after the build will dial each URL in the docs and error if links are broken. By default there is a sleep that appears difficult to configure https://github.com/sphinx-doc/sphinx/blob/4.x/sphinx/builders/linkcheck.py#L70-L73, but with default settings it takes about 3 minutes (though this is probably highly variable depending on how many links don't work).
