Ajax calls does not support IPad Safari

Our website is on Apache Wicket 1.4.8. I am trying to see our website works on
iPad. The website loads fine however wherever I have Ajax calls on the
application Safari is either frozen or it doesn't load the data from database
or doesn't make the Ajax calls.
I have tested "drop down choice example" on
http://wicketstuff.org/wicket14/ajax/ which is failing too.
P.S The website works fine in iPhone without the above issues.
