I disagree. We have lots of users still working with 1.4.x and from the users@
list they often have yet to upgrade to the last 1.4 release. We tell them to
upgrade to that release (1.4.22), as that provides the easiest upgrade path and
contains essential security fixes.
Let the actual communities determine the releases they wish to offer from their
dist folder. And yes we did mess up with the old 1.5/6.x releases remaining in
dist while they were supplanted with newer minor versions. Those were removed
and the release script is updated such that we won't forget in the future.
