      1. Assertion support for Simple Types is yet not clear, and is not 
implemented. Regarding this, the spec mentions, "Assertions are currently only 
allowed to be specified in complex types. It may be deemed useful also to 
include assertions in named model group definitions and/or attribute groups, or 
even simple types. The XML Schema Working Group solicits input from 
implementors and users of this specification on this question.".
   
      Today (28-Jul-2008), I had a discussion with Michael Glavassevich and he 
told me, assertions for Simple Types will be required. So I would now work on 
assertions support in Simple Types also.[[BR]][[BR]]

not yet written. The current implementation of xs:assert elements would return 
true for any value of ''test'' attribute.
