### Description Came out of the [0.4.0-incubating RC1 vote](https://lists.apache.org/thread/pjl0xgfns56bx219494oc51qnj2mll8b), where the NOTICE content and distribution years were flagged as `[KO]`. The `NOTICE` file at the repository root still says: ``` Copyright 2024-2025 The Apache Software Foundation ``` but 0.4.0-incubating is being released in 2026, so the copyright range should be `2024-2026`. Only the hand-maintained file at the repository root is stale. The `NOTICE` inside the jars is generated by `maven-remote-resources-plugin` from the current year and already says `2024-2026`, so the source release and the convenience binaries currently disagree. ### Root cause This is the second time the same drift has happened, after #692 fixed it for 2025. `release/scripts/validate_source_copyright.sh` only asserts that `NOTICE` exists and never reads its contents, so nothing catches a stale copyright range before a release candidate goes to a vote. Alongside bumping the year, the validation script should check that the copyright range starts at the `pom.xml` `<inceptionYear>` and ends at the year the release is being cut, so this cannot silently regress again next January. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
