Akash3121 opened a new pull request, #939:
URL: https://github.com/apache/incubator-xtable/pull/939
Closes/resolves #870
## What is the purpose of the pull request
This pull request makes published Apache XTable binary artifacts easier to
find from the Downloads page.
The signed source archives remain prominently identified as the official
Apache releases, while selected JARs published to Maven Central are clearly
labeled as convenience binaries. The change also updates the release
documentation so future releases include verified artifact links consistently.
The `xtable-utilities` bundled CLI suggested in the issue was not published
to Maven Central for releases 0.2.0, 0.3.0, or 0.4.0. Instead of adding broken
links, this pull request documents how to build the bundle from the matching
Git release tag.
## Verify this pull request
This change added documentation updates (only) and can be verified as
follows:
- Built the Docusaurus website successfully with `npm run build` from the
`website` directory.
- Verified that all seven newly added Maven Central JAR links return HTTP
200.
- Verified the documented utilities command against the `0.4.0-incubating`
Git tag:
```shell
./mvnw -f xtable-utilities/pom.xml package -DskipTests
- Independently reviewed the downloads-page content, release workflow
changes, artifact accuracy, and CLI fallback instructions.
## Brief change log
- Added direct Maven Central links to the core library and bundled Hudi
support extensions JARs for releases 0.2.0, 0.3.0, and 0.4.0.
- Added a direct link to the Spark runtime JAR and its usage guide for
release 0.4.0.
- Clarified that signed source archives are the official Apache releases
and Maven Central JARs are convenience binaries.
- Retained version-filtered Maven Central search links for the complete
list of published artifacts.
- Documented that the runnable `xtable-utilities` bundle was not published
for these releases and provided a working build-from-tag command.
- Updated the release guide to require verification of exact Maven Central
JAR URLs before adding them to the Downloads page.
- Updated the website release checklist to prevent links from being created
for unpublished artifacts.
