Correction to my comment above: I split that into two PRs so the design can be reviewed on its own. - **#945** RFC-4, the design proposal. Nothing but `rfc/rfc-4/rfc-4.md`. - **#946** the draft implementation, which exists so the RFC can be checked against something runnable. The two points from my previous comment stand, and both are in #946: the async API is already specified in `spec/rest-service-open-api.yaml` and never implemented, and `xtable-service` currently cannot run any conversion at all because `delta-kernel-defaults` is missing from its dependencies.
