Hudi 1.x no longer needs HBase, but Hive 3.1.3 still pulls it into the HMS bundle (`hive-metastore` → `hbase-client`/Tephra, `hive-jdbc` → HiveServer2/LLAP → `hbase-server`), along with a Hadoop 2.7.1 MapReduce/HDFS stack and other server-only dependencies. - Remove `hive-jdbc`, which xtable doesn't use. - Exclude HBase, Tephra and other leaves that nothing xtable can reach references, and that never load during a sync. - Declare `hadoop-mapreduce-client-core` as `provided`, like `hadoop-common`. Iceberg's Hive storage handler needs `mapred.InputFormat`, which only arrived via HBase's Hadoop 2.7.1. Runtime tree 256 → 101 artifacts; bundle 125 MB → 81 MB. Verified with unit tests and a live Thrift metastore running create/refresh/replace/partition/drop for Iceberg, Delta and Hudi.
