[~ste...@apache.org], just to make sure I understand, are you suggesting that
we go ahead with the non-atomic {{createNonRecursive}} implementation shown in
the patch here, and it won't be useful to HBase, but perhaps other applications
would find it useful?
[~mackrorysd], are you specifically trying to enable HBase running on S3? (I'm
asking because you mentioned HBase in the issue description.)
