the apache-release profile is usually defined in the apache parent pom (ex:
[the profile in
org.apache:apache:17|http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/maven/pom/tags/apache-17/pom.xml?view=markup#l341]).
It's usually set up to help make sure projects are generating valid release
artifacts. It looks like Hadoop doesn't use the ASF parent pom though?
