Matthew Paduano commented on HADOOP-12563:
------------------------------------------
to be clear: lines 220 and 199 in *trunk* correspond to lines 215 and 194 in
pre-this-patch code.
that is the cause of the error. code written before version 1 was added is
being asked to read
a token file created with version 1.
note that to fetch a token file and use the legacy format (for just this use
case), one might use:
DtFileOperations.getTokenFile(File tokenFile, String fileFormat,
Text alias, Text service, String url, String renewer, Configuration conf)
where fileFormat = DtFileOperations.FORMAT_JAVA
or use the command line:
hadoop dtutil get hdfs://hostname:port -format java filename

> hdfs fetchdt is missing some critical features and is geared almost
> exclusively towards HDFS operations. Additionally, the token files that are
> created use Java serializations which are hard/impossible to deal with in
> other languages. It should be replaced with a better utility in common that
> can read/write protobuf-based token files, has enough flexibility to be used
> with other services, and offers key functionality such as append and rename.
> The old version file format should still be supported for backward
> compatibility, but will be effectively deprecated.
> A follow-on JIRA will deprecrate fetchdt.
