Summary: delete spurious 'master' branch

Right now the git repo has a branch named 'master' in addition to our 'trunk'
branch. Since 'master' is the common-place name of the 'most recent' branch in
git repositories, this is misleading to new folks.
It looks like the branch is from ~11 months ago. We should remove it.
