This breaks HADOOP-13338. Hive does not compile against 2.8.0-SNAPSHOT. Given
this is an incompatible change, I'm +1 for reverting it from branch-2 and
branch-2.8. I'll revert it in Jul. 9 PDT if there are no objections.
