...I'm with Sean here: let's get the feature into trunk, then do a version
which works in branch-2. Even if the implementations are different, we don't
want a feature in branch-2 which isn't in trunk. Expect [~aw] to have opinions
on trunk patches, as he is the 1ary reviewer of changes to the scripts there
