John Zhuge commented on HADOOP-14131:
-------------------------------------
It turns out the situation is not too bleak. Once Tomcat is running, all system
properties from {{catalina.properties}} including {{kms.log.dir}} are set
properly. I think only the system properties used by the Tomcat specific
{{logging.properties}} should be set on option {{-D}}. The only case is
{{kms.log.dir}}.
> kms.sh fails to set kms.log.dir

> Key: HADOOP-14131
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-14131
> Project: Hadoop Common
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: kms
> Affects Versions: 2.9.0
> Reporter: John Zhuge
> Assignee: John Zhuge
> Priority: Minor
>
> {{kms.sh run/start}} creates the erroneous dir "$\{kms.log.dir}". The system
> property {{kms.log.dir}} is not set for log4j to substitute the variable.
> HADOOP-14083 introduced the issue.
