Igor Mazur commented on HADOOP-13887:
-------------------------------------
I have a question about adding symmetric and asymmetric encryption.
Initialization of EncryptionMaterialsProvider in different cases for
AmazonS3EncryptionClient might be a little bit verbose. So I see couple of
options, but not sure what of them fits better to the style.
1. Add some amount of scalar typed options (string/int) to the configurations,
for example, public/private keys etc
2. Add single option with class type that will allow users to provide a
completely custom class initializer for any particular cases.

> Expose the client-side encryption option documented in Amazon S3
> documentation -
> http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/dev/UsingClientSideEncryption.html
> Currently this is not exposed in Hadoop but it is exposed as an option in AWS
> Java SDK, which Hadoop currently includes. It should be trivial to propagate
> this as a parameter passed to the S3client used in S3AFileSystem.java
