Thanks Nicholas and Steve for the history and very interesting. Yes it looks
like a major work, maybe need a community wide discussion and decision
regarding fixing it or not. Not sure how many users want to support this, but
guess cloud storages would like it? Support HDFS is OK not to support colon so
the work can be limited to Hadoop FileSystem and the common library.
