As a committer for Apache Jena (who voted for this ticket and has been watching 
it hopefully :) ), I can tell you that the archaic version of Guava in Hadoop 
is the _only_ reason we must maintain a shaded (modern) version of the same 
dependency in our project. This is confusing at best for both developers and 
users. Hadoop moving forward on this would be a consummation devoutly to be 
wished.
