* patch applies to trunk
* quick review of ConfTest itself, with IDE suggested/applied cleanup
I looked at what it'd take to add XInclude support (as it fails right now), but
concluded it'd take work. I just documented.
If we really wanted to improve conftest I'd go for XSD/RelaxNG validation
followed by reading the DOM and checking that way.
